International entertainer Jamie Zammitt has been performing magic for over a decade now. His act has taken him around Europe, including performances in the UK, France, Spain and Gibraltar. As a confident and talented young magician, Jamie involves everyone in the crowd and allows people to feel part of the experience.

Starting to practice magic at 12 years of age, Jamie soon realised that he had a talent unlike most people. His ability to engage the public and present magic was very powerful. From there, with practice and guidance from various masters of magic from around the world, Jamie has grown, as an individual and as a magician.

In 2006, Jamie founded the Gibraltar Magic Circle, the only dedicated magic group here in Gibraltar. Since having founded this, the community has... Read more...

With Gibraltar being so close to Spain, it seemed foolish to not visit when we had the chance to do so. I've not been to Gibraltar before now, but I do think I'll be back again.

It's a bit of a shock to see everything Spanish and suddenly come onto this bit of British soil in the midst of it. Gibraltar has been British for more than 300 years, but some people still haven't grown accustomed to it and it seems a touchy subject in places.

The town on Gibraltar is a broad range of things to see and do. I was impressed most with the foods to be honest. There is just so much here, that I doubt you'd wish for anything more. You can find our traditional Brit foods, but also some that have a Moroccan flair and some of the most excellent Spanish dishes I'd seen and I just came from... Read more...

I don't usually get a lot of time to spend on holiday so this year I just decided to take some extra and view things from a new angle. I come to Gibraltar every few years, and it always amazed me how much changes and how much stays the same. This year I came on cruise and what a view. The cruise dock is just a mile from the middle of town.

I never mind doing Gibraltar on my own, as the local people here are so friendly that you've always got someone to chat to whilst out and about for an afternoon or evening. I got lunch at the Angry Friar which is pretty typical Brit fare, steak and kidney pie and those type things. There's a great outdoor patio where you can lunch and watch the people go by, and its on the main shopping strip so you can find it without a bother.

The shopping here... Read more...

Shel and I got up before the sun came up, although thats not saying much really. Oddly enough it's still dark here at around 8 o'clock in the morning.

We found a taxi without too much trouble and started our explorations of Gibraltar. Shel's not been here before now, so I enjoyed showing her the area. I'm not a local but I do visit every summer, so I know my way around the place without too much trouble.

Gib can be a bit tricky navigating so I always think its best to not hire a car, but find a taxi instead to do my traveling around the area. Shel was quite keen to see the caves, as well as the apes so we set out early before the sun came fully up. Originally she wanted to walk, but thankfully I talked her round to my way of thinking. I do like a good hike but miles uphill wasn't... Read more...

The hotel couldn't be nicer. We checked in this morning after we'd left our smaller one. The hotel is called the Rock hotel. It's a posh place decorated in the Colonial style, apparently founded by one or another of the Marquis who used to frequent Gibraltar.

We won't need to frequent our internet cafe this evening as our room has wifi that is part of the free amenities that you get with your room purchase. We'd asked some of the locals for a recommendation as to the nicest hotel in Gibraltar so we could treat ourselves on our last night. We were told the Rock HOtel was the place and in reality it certainly was.

The views are nothing short of spectacular. We could see the Rif Mountains, which of course we couldn't name at the time, but a helpful hotel staff person informed us.... Read more...

Up early and headed for some outdoors activities. I'm strictly a read a good book and go shopping person, so I'm quite proud of myself for taking a day out, as I've never really been the hardy sporting type.

Still it was exciting and I enjoyed it actually. The cable car station is at the lower portion of the rock, and rises you up for about a ten minute ride that takes you to view the entire area.

It was outstanding, and I'd recommend to anyone. To be honest I can't think why I've avoided it for this long a time. There are shops and restaurants at the top and you can see what feels like across the world actually.

They do a lovely tour at the top as well. There is a hand held sort of computer thing that you get that walks you through the history of Gibraltar and all,... Read more...

It's a shocker when you see all the sunshine and beautiful weather that the daylight doesn't arrive sooner in the morning really.

It was just about 8 Am when we'd gotten going this morning due to the daylight not arriving prior to that.

The lighthouse at Europa point is imposing, and the view is no less so really. There was a sort of haze over the area in the morning that made lovely photo ops, but it cleared out nicely before lunch time.

The Mosque, which we were told was a gift from a sheik or ruler of another area is used as a house or worship as well as a school and it is outstanding. There are a lot of coming's and going's there, so getting a good photo with out a great many people in it was difficult.

All in all I'd have to say that we should have... Read more...

Traipsed around the Rock today in search of some of the more intriguing little shops that I've been told I missed and found one of two that were just striking.

There is a leather goods shop that's on the main street called Vena and Company that offers some wonderful leather goods. Also in line with the shopping theme for Gibraltar one of the residents pointed me toward a book store that sold but new and used books that was situated quite conveniently on the main street as well.

I took a bit of a hike to view the Alameda gardens and see some of the outdoorsy things while I was here, mostly just to say I'd done it, although the historical things are quite nice.

The monkeys of Gibraltar are one of the main attractions here, but honestly, I'm not all that amused by them....  Read more...

I came here for the first time on holiday with my parents, and really loved the place. We came back nearly every year after that, but this is Shel's first time to visit so I've decided to let her take the lead for our holiday.

Of course she wants to see a few things that I don't much care for, but it's compromise, isn't it, when you share your holiday with your spouse. Today we headed straight out to the gardens.

The Alameda Gardens have a fairly interesting history. Odd that they were designed and built by a man as we are fairly notorious, most of us, for not caring too much for flowers, but I was almost as pleased with the gardens as Shel was, but we won't tell her that.

These are laid out in a unique way, with a lot of paths that connect together in quite a...  Read more...
